Swainson's Spurfowl (Pternistis swainsonii) or Swainson's Francolin (Francolinus swainsonii) as they were previously called, have long spurs on the legs. They are the only red-necked francolins with black legs and a black bill. This magnificent specimen, showing ruffled brown feathers, was photographed just after first light on a very cold morning.
